Congressman Issa Likely Violated CRP Bylaws

It seems Congressman Issa violated California Republican Party bylaws. This does risk his membership in the state party, the Orange, Riverside and San Diego county parties. However if anyone else advocated for the election of Obama or even Gary Johnson would likely get the boot faster than an Iraqi throwing shoes at President Bush.

Congressman Issa recently endorsed Howard Berman in the Congressional District 30 race on April 4th.

“I don’t tell people to vote for Democrats,” Rep. Darrell Issa  of Vista told those attending the event Sunday, where Issa and Berman were being honored. “If there were a good Republican in the race, I wouldn’t tell you to vote for Howard, probably.

“But the fact is, Howard is in the race of his lifetime, and I want him back.”

Here are the bylaws from the state party.

A majority of the Committee or the Executive Committee may remove, censure or reprove any regular or appointive delegate who, during his term as a delegate , affiliates with or registers as a member of a party other than the Republican Party, publicly advocates that the voters should not vote for the nominee of the Party for any office, or who gives support to or avows a preference for any publicly announced candidate of a party other than the Republican Party or for a candidate for partisan office who is opposed to a candidate nominated by the Republican Party, or who fails to pay dues in accordance with section 2.01.09 or who pays any obligation to the Committee with a check drawn on a closed account or returned for non-sufficient funds (“bad check”).                            Section 2.01.06

I could understand Republicans endorsing Democrats when there are no Republicans running in a district such as Congressional District 35. But Congressional District 30 has 3 Republicans running. It will likely be the Berman versus Sherman show in November, Issa should of at least waited for the sacrificial lamb Republicans to be eliminated in the June election.

The rules committee of the California Republican Party needs to modify their bylaws to state that neutrality or support of their favorite Republican in a contested election is required, but if no Republicans survive a Top 2 then you are free to endorse your favorite Democratic Party politician on the day after the Top 2 primary. I know incumbent elected officials of our party want to work with the better of the two Democratic Party officials, but there is a time and place for this.

I did contact the CRP but messages were not replied with a response.

A Political Plague in California

There is something fishy in California and the plague rests on both political parties. Public services that Californians value that are being impacted due to the lack of funds. Governor Brown and the public employee unions want to make sure their causes are fully funded, but the problem we have is not enough taxpayers and not enough industry.

Even though it may be tempting to vote for Democrats due to their lack of using women, Latinos and gays as wedge issues. Democratic Party legislators are making it easy for the entrepreneur class to pack up shop and move to more accepting climes due to their advocacy of crippling restrictions that do not make it cost effective to operate in our state.

Imagine how much revenue we can have if we did not scare away the entrepreneurs that make our state work. With the economy of scale we would have more taxpayers and a more manageable tax rate for the people of California.

Perhaps Republicans need to stop going after the big wedge so we can get more people united to make California work for all of us.

Content Nanny Strikes Again Part III

Congressman Baca submits his bill for the third time to add another warning label for parents about content in video games. The question we should ask the congressman is, Do we need another layer of regulation on an industry that already self regulates itself well?

I previously written about this issue twice already. However the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin has published a new article about his third attempt.

Baca’s bill, opposed by an industry trade group, would mandate the following message be printed on video game packages: “WARNING: Exposure to violent video games has been linked to aggressive behavior.”

The odd fact about this bill is that it will apply to cartoon games such as Mario Kart as well as violent realistic games such as Grand Theft Auto. Maybe our congressman rarely plays video games to know the difference.

Baca’s new bill is H.R. 4204 for this current session of congress.

Norma’s Double Standard on Public Safety

It seems Assembly member Norma Torres (D-Pomona) has a double standard on public safety. As mayor of Pomona she was reluctant about driver’s license checkpoints in her city, but being uninsured and unlicensed is also a public safety hazard in our communities and our state which also could lead to property damage and bodily injury or death.

Now recently she has introduced a bill AB 2552 with little notice that will make driving with any marijuana in your body even if you are sober as an equivalent to “driving under the influence”. I can understand that due to her time as an emergency dispatcher she believes she is the paragon of public safety. Unfortunately taking marijuana is not like drinking beer where it leaves the system after several days. This bill states that if you have any cannabis based compound you would not be allowed to drive. Unfortunately even if you are sober, marijuana still stays in one’s system for up to a month which is one way to help clog up the judicial system and prevent people from making a living when their driving privilege gets restricted.

I am not here to excuse buzzed driving, if a police officer believes one is not concentrating properly and driving erratically like a drunk driver then yes, punish the individual. However, if Norma wants to promote public safety then she should work with physiologists to think of a fair level of marijuana in one’s system such as a young driver who might have taken some cold medicine that might have traces of alcohol as a compromise. Maybe it might take a progressive like Assemblyman Tom Ammiano (D-San Fransisco) to set Norma on the right track.

For $200 I would rather spend it better.

I was encouraged to see if the San Bernardino County Republican Party was worth the commitment again, but it seemed for myself personally it was not worth the effort. California is going down the sinkhole of irrelevance, but I feel both major political parties do not fit my needs. However we live in a Coke and Pepsi society. If you drink RC cola, people think you are quite strange.

If I was a San Bernardino County Democratic Party member, I would cringe at the support for high taxation that drives the productive out of our state robbing us from jobs. Although I may feel comfortable with the San Bernardino County Democrats support of my equal rights, there will be no jobs in our communities due to their policies.

If I was a San Bernardino County Republican Party member, I would cringe when people are passing out flyers and petitions to deny me from my equal rights. However the people in the room are eagerly wanting to bring job creation and opportunity to our communities.

I wish we could bring the best of both worlds to make a perfect fusion political party. Maybe this will happen when candidates such as Gary Johnson make an impression to help make the Libertarian Party the best third party in the United States. Maybe we can bring back the spirit of the Bull Moose Party.

This year I will likely vote for Gary Johnson, leave my US Senate vote blank this November due to the Top 2 measure that deprives voters of voter choice, Gloria Negrette Mcleod for Congress and support Ken Coble for State Assembly. Maybe this explains why many people are decline to state because they never vote a straight party ticket.

In June, I will be supporting Ron Paul for President, and Rick Williams for US Senate. However I do not feel comfortable voting for either Elizabeth Emken OR Dianne Feinstein because I feel they are not within my values.

I was disgusted by the number of people who supported the regressive party platform in the California Republican state convention, maybe it will take a few more landslide Democratic Party victories until the party realizes what they need to do to get young people, Latinos, women and even moderates in the party.

I will likely set up an exploratory committee for the likely special election in 2013 for Assembly District 52. I am not likely to  accept a party label. I will be inclusive to minority groups and still promote job creation in our state.

Rush, You are Hurting Your Show

I have grown to listen to your program since 1993 and I was weaned politically by you as a Rush Baby. Compared to other progressives who are making sure your show becomes broadcast history where your era would end in their eyes, I think you still have a niche in broadcasting. You say the things that are obvious, but for a change you need to be tactful in how you do things.

Just as how Glen Beck got removed from the Fox News channel, the possibility of Limbaugh being canned can be mighty real. Basically when the progressives get in for the kill, they will not let go of an issue.

I may not like your statements that are not friendly to women and LGBT people, but on many issues you tell it like it is.

The Chevy Volt may be a flop, Solyndra was a theft of taxpayer money. I know you want President Obama’s administration to fail, but Rush you are screwing the pooch royally where we will not have anyone meaningful to stand up against the abuses of the Obama administration. Learn to respect people so you can have a bigger audience and help create meaningful change for the people of America.

San Bernardino County Republican Meeting

Today I am taking the time to meet my fellow Republicans.  We may be from different wings of the party,  but we usually agree on most issues. I was encourages to run for the county committe and felt it was better for me to meet the gang before making the initative to travel to San Bernardino via Omnitrans.

I am debating if I should file or should I just work towards a Ron Paul victory.  However the magic eight ball says I should do both.  By signing up it means pledging party loyalty,  but if Santorum is the nominee it might be perverse to see him implode which would help
us get reform after the election.

Incommunicado with the California Republican Party

Here is a letter I sent back to the party from their 2012 fundraising solicitation.

Hello Chairman,

I am sorry to say that this envelope will be delivered with NO FUNDS at this time.

I would like to complain that your office failed to communicate back to me about maybe running in a Democratic Party dominated area so we could have a race challenged. I called your front desk and they sent me to the communications guy instead of your political director and never got a reply back.

Then I asked your convention organizer about how does the party select its venues. I was curious to see if my home town could be considered for the Fall 2013 convention, but I got no answer. But I know you are busy planning the convention. But at least your representative could of said we are busy, but we will talk to you later.

Until then have a good day.

And at least this envelope will be used to give the postal service some much needed revenue since your front desk consumed my mobile phone minutes with no answers. If your staff had better customer service maybe it would lead to me buying an associate membership.

Choose The Proper Direct Action

Direct Action is great for activists, but the wrong type of direct action can set us back. Disturbing the peace is one charge that is acceptable if you want an arrest record, but assault could hurt you more in the long run.

I previously wrote on this issue. But since the secret service is going to be used for most of the campaigns now, I strongly recommend people abandoning the glitter bomb.

There are ways we can overcome Santorum and Romney big time. Here are some ideas.

Overpower them like how Chicago union members took over a Scott Walker luncheon.

Sing songs like ‘I Want it All’ or ‘A Little Respect’ and make sure to bring a massive number of people to make it hard to get thrown out of the ballroom or event area.

Or do what OWS did to President Obama.

An Appeal For Common Sense Public Pension Reform

To my state legislators,

I implore you to support legislation written by Governor Brown’s staff to strip pensions from felons whose crimes are job related. It is only right to support this portion of the public pension reform bill that will likely be in the budget committee.

If you embezzle money from a government agency, molest children or run a motorcycle gang dealing drugs while being a university professor then it should be justified to eliminate the benefits.

To be fair, the benefits should be removed ONLY when the individual is convicted in a court of law.
