2010 A New Direction

Over at Pam’s House Blend they are discussing how 2010 may be fatal for the LGBT community and their fellow progressive allies because the Republican Party is most likely going to get the majority in both houses of congress. It is understandable that there is some fear in the possibility that President Obama miscalculated his mandate to the American People and that the American People did not realize that Obama was one of the most left winged presidents in American history.

However Republicans will need to tread carefully in 2010 and not go overboard like the Democratic Party has in their four years of power in congress. The American voter is not afraid to make a correction and go back to the Democratic Party if the Republicans spend worse than President Obama and decide to submit to the theocratic branch of the conservative movement with upcoming legislation.

The middle is where its at in politics. I hope we can change the status quo in 2010 and I hope my individual rights and liberties do not get infringed with the change of leadership in congress.

Want to read the greatest horror novel published today? No, it is not written by Stephen King or Dean Koontz. The greatest horror novel published today is the Obama health care reform project. President Obama and his allies in congress want to pass his plan in the dead of night so we the people will not have a chance to find out what horrific plans he has for the people of our nation.

There is no freedom of choice in the president’s health care reform package. Once you leave your private insurance plan or your employer ceases to offer insurance you will be booted to the public option. If you are on Medicare, don’t think you will be able to stay there either because you will be on the public option as well.

If you have friends or family in the special needs community such with Down’s syndrome do not expect the government to take care of their health care needs because enrollment in the public option will be limited.

If you are a physician do not expect that you will be paid more because you are a cardiologist or an ear nose throat specialist. In Obama’s world all of you will be paid the same from general practitioner to specialist. This will lead to the decrease in the number of specialists serving the needs of the people of our country.

If you are a patient you will be treated like a cog on the assembly line because physicians will be limited to how much time they can spend with you as a patient. And if you have to be readmitted because of illness or injury you will still have to abide by mandatory waiting periods no matter how severe your condition may be.

If you are elderly the government is going to encourage you to kill yourself for the good of the nation. Senior citizens will be required to attend end of life counseling each five years about the different ways you can end your life. If you liked Soylent Green you will like Obama health care reform. And government will force you to instruct and consult your life with living wills and durable powers of attorney.

The government not your doctor or family will be the only ones authorized to decide if you should have life support systems or terminal disease health care turned off. Most likely it will happen frequently because government will want to cut costs in the name of life.

June 26th was an infamous day in American history, Joe Baca and friends capped the American economy and sold off our prosperity in the American Clean Energy and Security Act HR 2454. I thought the Democratic Party was the party of the working class and the poor, but I guess not. Working families are going to be reamed with higher costs for energy and food due to this pending law.

Cap and trade does little to help improve the situation of climate change. Carbon offsets will negate the effects in reducing emissions and only be a method of just raising money for the government where enforcers will be coming down your business to make sure they are meeting emission limits.

And if you are a home owner expect more mandates that will also drive the cost of housing and make homes less affordable to those who want to buy or sell a home. Expect to pay for an energy inspector to certify your doors, windows, heaters and appliances to meet government standards before you are allowed to sell your home. This mandate is going to do nothing to help the real estate industry which is hurting due to the housing bubble.

Speaker Pelosi, Joe Baca and President Obama are promising jobs and opportunity, but all these nanny state regulations will only prolong our recession and delay our economic recovery. If we want to stop the insanity we must call Senators Boxer and Feinstein now.

Republicans Need to Hold Clear on Values Issues

As the political party of the moral majority the Republican Party has been bloodied by the admissions of adultery from leaders such as Senator Ensign of Nevada and Governor Sanford of South Carolina. The Republican Party has been known to defend and protect traditional values for the last generation, but when their standard bearers can not protect their own marriages how can they protect the sanctity of heterosexual marriage? Should we blame the states that legalized marriage equality for the failure of the marriages of fallen heterosexuals?

If traditional values activists want to protect marriage and limit it to heterosexual couples they should learn how to work on how to make their marriages work before campaigning to preach the virtues of tradition. Younger voters are not buying this dog and pony show from the Republican Party should should integrate the new reality in their next campaigns. Demographics are changing and we need to understand that when we enter the new election cycle of 2010. By being inclusive to gay and lesbian Americans we can build a bridge to the future of our nation.
