On the subject of saving money you do not need expensive cleaning solutions for your LCD monitors and televisions. All you need is distilled water and some microfiber cleaning cloths.

When you pay good money for your monitor you want to make sure dirt never gets caked in your investment.

The BBS was my first introduction to the online world. I have been calling and using BBSs since May of 2005 when I ended up spending 4-5 hours calling Santa Monica chatting with people on a BBS called Earth Spirit, but fortunately a classmate from high school gave me a local BBS number where I was met with the BBS community.

Wab E App had like over 30 door games and message forums about Magic The Gathering, while the Screaming Electron had a UUCP link to the internet with email and newsgroups up the wazoo for people to post to.

The 909 Area code had its own little sub-cultures, bbs’s that used WWIV, which was the dominant bbs software in the western part of the area, or bbs’s that were using Renegade or Wildcat that were connected to Fidonet were also part of the mix.

I tried running my own bbs, but when I was able to have access to an income and more resources the bbs world went down due to the accession of the Internet. This post by semi-regular commentator the Ontario Emperor made me decide to make a post my retrospective of the 909 scene.

I recent got my first computer from my great aunt at 15 and I had one week in the mountains without that computer back on July 1995, I had plans for my first bbs where I wrote my plans for a message base lineup, but I only had 60 megs to run a bbs and I decided to run a part time bbs, but that was kind of not cool because people did not know the difference not to call at the daytime when they were supposed to call at night.

It took 2 years for me to have my own dedicated phone line for my bbs, but bbsing decided to go down in flames in the 909 around 2001. And in 1998 the local bbs that kids who were my age at that time shut down because the sysop went to college and I tried to carry on the legacy, but I did not run the bbs software of choice in my area and that ended that when I decided to run Telegard because my WWIV BBS was having issues with fidonet importation. The modifications I had to add to the program source code was not behaving well with my computer and that led to my change of bbs platforms.

I think the removal of my modem from my communications life and the advent of DSL killed the modem scene, but I have tried a few times to run a telnet connected bbs.

I have ran Synchronet BBS Software since 2002. And it runs pretty well for me to partake in my niche hobby of communications like where the Internet was barely in its mainstream.

You are invited to visit it here. There are three choices for interactivity, you can visit with a web browser to read the message forums, and download files (such as the telnet client and offline message reader program), flash based terminal program where you can do most things on my bbs except for downloading and uploading files, and the telnet connection where you can visit my bbs like if you were dialing with a modem.

At least the company could of just printed a postcard sized piece of paper telling their customers to download an electronic manual on their website, but NO that was not available.

Also, I tried visiting their website and no manuals were even included there. I like your product, but the lack of a proper instruction/installation manual was a bad first impression. I do not think it would hurt if you had someone take a day or two for each new product you make to provide some documentation for your products.

After my tweets and facebook messages to the company, they never bothered to answer my reply. They may have good products, but I do not have any confidence in them.

My sister bought a real nice Sony television for her room with the earnings from her new job. After paying off the television she decided to treat herself to Sony BDP-S470 Blu-ray Disc Player. However she was blindsided with the low price on the Sony BDP-S470 blu ray player, not realizing that the player did not include wi-fi.

If you want wi-fi instead of having to lay down 30 to 100 feet of Ethernet cable you have to buy Sony’s proprietary device to utilize wi-fi on your blu ray player. The store my sister bought it from has no remorse for not telling the customers the facts about the products they sell.

I strongly recommend that you avoid Electrozone out of Las Vegas, Nevada for their horrible customer service. At least their competitors warn customers that you need this external device. My sister did contact the company asking them why they did not warn their customers and they said it was not their job.

Not everyone is a maven of technology like Leo Laporte where they know what has one feature over another, and it would spread more customer goodwill if they fully informed their customers.

Due to a collapsing housing market, thousands of houses are in deep disrepair. Pools never drained filled with mosquitoes and disease, foreclosed residents treating their homes like dumps and or letting their lawns grow foot long weeds such as demonstrated by a local resident.

The irony that follows is the distressed homeowner has a house for sale, short sale sign on the front lawn. However the home is a lovely dump and does not scream the words “BUY ME” to the motorists passing along the street.

Cities and counties should take a proactive approach and say to the Realtors and banks that just because the home is distressed does not mean you can just do whatever you want with it, even subletting it to the homeless in the city park to further damage the property.

The City of Ontario does offer services to help take care of your clutter needs such as a temporary bin which includes disposal of the clutter as well for 87.00 and if you don’t have someone to help you, there are plenty of people who read Craig’s List who would eagerly would want a 40 or 50 dollar day to help put the clutter and junk in the bin for you.

If the bank or Realtor wants to sell their property they need to be proactive and give the home a new paint job, replace the fixtures and replace the landscaping and good things will happen. If money is tight, I understand. At least give the lawn a monthly trim and make your driveway presentable so it does not look like a sight for sore eyes in the neighborhood.

Out of fairness, on the next day the property owner or realtor of that house pictured actually did clean up that mess.

Democratic Party state legislators got their priorities wrong in Sacramento. The state budget and job creation should be the ultimate priority instead of the distractions of plastic bag bans and boycotts of Arizona. While the Republican Party State Senate minority leader should get off his soapbox of banning marriage equality and get on-board on fixing the state’s budget crisis.

I would like representatives that actually are focused on the big issue that means most, the economy. I would like California to be a place where business owners want to set up shop in, not flee away from. We need fewer regulations that kill jobs in a state with one of the worst unemployment rates in the nation.

We need to promote private sector industry so they could provide the employment opportunities that will bring forth tax revenue for the public services the people in California rely upon such as education and law enforcement so we can afford to fund our budget. A true economic recovery does not exist with public sector jobs alone.

The people of our communities need to speak out to our representatives and tell them they want Senator Dutton’s private sector job creation package brought back and passed as soon as possible and no more distractions while we are late on another state budget.

It is sad when Republicans have to move to the anti-equality side in order to get elected. However if you are replacing a Democratic candidate who leans liberal for the last forty years, equality should not have to be sacrificed. I could respect Maggie Gallagher of the National Organization of Marriage since she has more consistent policy views.

For Wisconsin’s 7th district, if I ever lived there I would be happy to support the Democratic Party candidate because Sean Duffy is an opportunistic fool who turns on a dime because he only wanted political support. When I ran for State Assembly 8 years ago, people told me to move to the direction the base wanted, but if that is incompatible with your principles you should stand with your principles.

It is ironic that someone stars in a movie supporting equality in marriage, ends up standing against the issue. However maybe Sean and his wife were doing it just to pay the law school bills.

We are living in an instant news cycle where people can easily find out for themselves the real story instead of relying on political advertisements for their information. We have John and Ken with their 25 hours of week of broadcasting, there is one major lesson as reported in the Los Angeles Times as what one member of the duo stated "Don’t get into a fight with two guys who have 25 hours to fill each week."

Many of my friends and family members are disgusted by Meg Whitman and even though the idea of a third Jerry Brown term may make long time Californians sick, at least he is honest about his policies and we will not get a third term of Arnold Schwarzenegger where he had no consistent views.

2. Use presidential elections as an indicator if a political party has popular support to be an official political party in California.

3. Truth in advertising, candidates would be required to have accurate ballot affiliation statements such as saying they are a Republican when they are really a Democratic Party member. We want voters to have accurate information about their candidates. If political candidates want to run outside the party then they could use statements like Progressive Independent or One Nation Conservative to identify their ideology.

We keep third parties alive and offer voters a choice if they do not like the top two choices in the 2012 primary.

If we fail in appealing proposition 14, we should learn to make the system hospitable for all of us.
