The Paradoxes of Politics

How come I vote Republican even though I find their social issue policy rather toxic, while there are latino and black traditional values voters who vote for the Democratic Party?

Eg: Me with the McCain/Palin sign and the No on 8 sign, while the people around the corner had Obama and Yes on 8 signs.

Many Republican activists ask these communities share my social values, but they still vote for the Democratic Party, why? Maybe it was Proposition 187 that alienated ourselves from the latino community, maybe it is that minority communities find value and importance in government services. In my area, Republicans who were both socially conservative and liberal both sunk hard in my assembly district, maybe more understanding of minority communities would be better.

This would be a good topic for a political sociologist to investigate.
