Communicate to your Congress members that Cap and Trade (HR 2454 is a BAD IDEA)

Obama, Pelosi and Reid are trying to ram through a bill that will help constrain the American economy. Like the book 1984, the title of the legislation is definitely spoken in double speak. American Clean Energy and Security. Maybe we will have clean energy because no one will be able to afford it except the super wealthy thanks to the process of Cap and Trade, Carbon Offsets and Carbon Credits.

What will be the net impact of HR 2454?

Reduce aggregate gross domestic product (GDP) by $9.6 trillion
Destroy an average of 1-3 million jobs, every year
Raise electricity rates 90 percent after adjusting for inflation
Raise inflation-adjusted gasoline prices by 74 percent
Raise residential natural gas prices by 55 percent
Raise an average family’s annual energy bill by $1,500 annually
Increase the federal debt by 26 percent, which is $29,150 per person

If we want to restore our economy we need to make sure we do not cap our economy and trade our prosperity away in HR 2454. Warren Buffet thinks ACES is regressive and leading environmental groups  think the bill is not effective enough.

Also visit the site Read The Bill, so congress does not slam bills at the last minute so we can have the people be more informed about what is going on in Washington. HR 2454 is 1200 pages, how can we expect our legislators to be informed about what is actually in this bill? That is why House Resolution 554 must be passed. Citizens should be given an opportunity to know what is actually in the legislation in congress. The stimulus bill that was passed in February of this year that has 1100 pages, legislators were only given 13 hours to read that bill. No one realistically is that good in speed reading unless they had aides divided up in 5 to read portions of the bill to summarize to their boss.

Basically we need to call our congress members to tell them to vote NO on HR 2454 by Friday morning, and Yes on House Resolution 554.
