Medical Marijuana should become a legal treatment option for those genuinely in need for its therapeutic benefits. Although it is illegal according to federal law to possess and cultivate Marijuana, efforts should be made to legalize it with strict regulations to prevent the drug from being used recreationally.
It is a severe tragedy that cities across the Inland Valley have weakened Proposition 215. For those with AIDS, Cancer, glaucoma and multiple sclerosis as examples marijuana provides them the opportunity to regain appetite, relieve chronic pain and nausea.
If we want to help those in need we need to have methods of dispensing the drug without the side effects of crime and traffic. Also, we need to encourage our congress members to support the bi-partisan bill from Hinchey and Rohrabacher to prevent the Justice Department and DEA from arresting or prosecuting medicinal marijuana patients.
